Prayer Request

I have been completely overwhelmed by how through all of the struggles of the past three months, I have been blessed.  There are countless people thinking of me and praying for me, and I am so grateful.  When someone tells me that their entire church is praying for me, it’s hard for me to even conceptualize how much love that is!  Please know of my thankfulness for all you are doing for me.  Whether you are praying, calling, writing, or visiting, it means so much.  Even when you don’t know what to say, the fact that you contact me anyways means so much.  And please know, there is no right thing to say!  Just telling me you are thinking of me or that you love me is enough.

That being said, I have a request.  I have been so surrounded in love, and I would be honored if I could pray for you!  Please let me know how I can pray for you, either by leaving a reply in the section below this post or emailing me at aswillems@gmail.com.  Not only would it mean so much to me to pray for you because of how you’ve been praying for me, but as I go through my fourth round of chemo, there are times I find myself struggling to fight self-pity and self-doubt.  There are times when I know all I need to do is get out of my head, but I struggle.  Having specific intentions to pray for would be so good for me.  So please help me by letting me know exactly how I can pray for you! If you’d rather not give specifics that’s fine too-I’m happy just to pray for you! And please remember, there is NOTHING to0 small or seemingly insignificant to pray for!!

Thank you for how you have been supporting me.  I love you all.

Love, Ali

Allison, you are amazing! Coincidentally (or more likely, Providentially), a friend of mine just sent out a prayer request this morning for her three month-old niece, Gabriela, who has Down’s syndrome, and is undergoing heart surgery today. Your prayers for her and her family would be most welcome!

    Hi Ali!
You are such an amazing woman of God, and so inspiring to me as you struggle with your cancer. Thank you for sharing your story and faith journey as you continue to fight through your disease! I am thinking of you often. You asked for a prayer request, and I would ask that you pray for my fiance, Steve, and me as we prepare for our wedding on June 11. I’m sure you remember the joys and stresses of planning a wedding, especially in the last month leading up to the wedding. Thank you so much! You will continue to be in my prayers! Love, Marie

    • Thank you so much for your comment, Marie. I find you to be an amazing woman of God! I will absolutely be praying for you and Steve. You have less than a month to your wedding! Enjoy this time and be grateful everyday for Steve….this is such a special, intimate time. And on your big day, don’t stress about anything! Walk down the aisle joyfully and purposefully, making sure to glance at each and every person who is surrounding you with love, as well as your fiance, your partner on the road to God who is waiting in joyful anticipation for you. To this day, I haven’t experienced a moment that more exemplified God’s love to me than walking down the aisle at my wedding.

  3. My dear Alli,
If you would continue to pray for Gene, and for healing in Jonathan’s leg, I would be so thankful. Oh, and for my little website to become all it can be!
    Love,
    me :)

    Hi Allison,
I’m glad that I found you on Facebook! Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful son! You have so much love and compassion, I’m sure you are such a great mommy! When I read that you had cancer, my heart sunk. I want you to know that I think of you often. My mom still remembers you from our soccer days and
she too asks about you. I also reveived some
news 7 months after having my son. I was just
diagnosed with MS in March. It has been a struggle to cope with but with faith and support from friends and family I know everything will be ok!
    Love,
    Kacha

    • Kacha, I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to hear from you!!! Thank you so much for your sweet comments.

I’m so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I can’t tell you how much it teaches me about courage to hear you say that you know with faith and support from family and friends that everything will be okay. There are a lot of days when I want to believe this, but can’t. Thank you for being an example of strength to me.

Please know that I’m praying for you everyday. Congratulations to you on your son! I know that John Paul has been an incredible source of strength to me….I’m sure that your son has been the same for you.

Thanks dear! Please pray for my next-door neighbor, Eric Growning. He has acute pancreatitis and is fighting infections everyday in the ICU. He has been there for two months now and just had a major setback after some hopeful improvements. He is unable to talk because he is so weak. He is 40 and was totally healthy before this happened. He is married and has two daughters, ages 1 and 3. His wife, Hemi, is so wonderful, and she is obviously suffering so much. She is very thin from the stress. So thank you for your prayers! They certainly won’t go to waste.
You can also pray for me to find the right guy very soon, if you want!
    Love you!

    Ali,

I am continuously amazed and inspired by your spirit, openness, and honesty. You and your family are in my prayers. Thank you for praying for others as well. If you could, my family could benefit from the power of prayer as well. Recently, I was laid off from teaching after 4 years at the same school I started with, miscarried our first baby, found out my stepdaughter is being abused by her mother and was hospitalized for attempted suicide, my co-worker and friend passed away today, and I will need to console a school full of grieving children tomorrow. All of this has happened in the past three weeks. I appreciate any and all prayers you can give! Sometimes it all can be overwhelming. I hope to be able to send more encouraging words in my next post. Thank you for being a light in my like right now, Ali. Keep singing. :)

    Love,
    Megan

    • Megan,

Thank you for your beautiful comment, Megan. And thank you so very much for your prayers. I’m so sorry to hear of the struggles you’ve been enduring lately. I always admired you in high school for your sweetness, positive attitude, and strength, and I know that these qualities will serve you well right now (although I’m sure you must have days where it doesn’t feel like it). I am praying so very hard for you, your husband, and your beautiful stepdaughter, as well as for everyone at the school you teach at and all of the children.

  7. Linda Burch

    Dearest Alison,

There is so much I don’t know about what you are going through. You are indeed a child of God, and you are never alone. You are always in my thoughts and prayers.

I would ask you to pray for my cousin, Nancy Kerr, who has stage IV ovarian cancer. I have also asked her to pray for you.

She has been through too many chemos and is diabetic. Her numbers just shot up again after a short remission.

My main prayer is always for a peaceful heart and a peaceful world, a world where race, religion, sexual orientation, and boundaries do not matter and we all thrive in God’s love.
    THANK YOU.

    • It is so wonderful to hear from you, Linda! And thank you so much for your prayers. I am praying for your cousin, Nancy, and praying with you for a peaceful world. I can’t think of anything greater than the day when we all thrive in God’s love!

  8. Pam Keating

    Dear Ali,
Don and I continue to pray for you and send you our love. You are an amazing young woman. I am so touched by your selflessness and caring in spite of all you are going through. Could you include in your prayers my elderly parents Peter and Edith, who get more frail every day, and also all the families of the children I care for in school. Many of them are dealing with such sadness and fear every day.
You are in our thoughts and prayers all the time. We are so looking forward to the day we can meet John Paul and see you and Mike again. Hang in there, honey.
    Pam Keating

    • Thank you for your message and prayers, Pam! I am absolutely praying for your parents and for the families of the children you care for. I too can’t wait to bring John Paul home to Wisconsin! I would love for you to meet him!!

  9. Liz

    Ali and Mike,

I’m sure you won’t remember me but I have been praying for you and your family ever since I first met you! I was so happy to hear that you had a blog so I could tell you how amazing both you and Mike were! I was the labor and delivery nurse with you when you first arrived to fairfax in the emergency room and followed you to your room in MSICU. I continue to pray for your health and for that beautiful boy you had! Congratulations on your son!

    Liz

    • I absolutely remember you Liz!! I am so overjoyed that you commented on my blog because now I have the chance to thank you!

You were with Mike and me during the most difficult night of our lives. Finding out I had cancer and worrying about my prognosis as well as John Paul’s was the hardest thing we’ve ever gone through. I can’t thank you enough for sharing that time with us gracefully and compassionately. Your kindness meant so much to us, and we loved hearing about Indiana and your life. Getting to know you was a welcome and necessary distraction, as well as wonderful because of your sweetness! I am so grateful that there are nurses like you.

Thank you for praying for us. We’ll be keeping you in our prayers as well.

Would you pray for my brother? He is defending his dissertation on Wednesday. This is 7 years in the making and he’s pretty nervous. Also, would you pray for some relief from my headaches? Thanks!

  11. Michelle Paradise

    Dear Ali,
You are so amazing, inspiring and caring. I would appreciate it if you would add my daughter, Tracy, to your prayers. She has a non-malignant brain tumor which is under control but she still struggles with side effects. Thank you so much and may God continue to heal you. My prayers are with you and your family. Michelle Paradise

    • I’m praying for Tracy, Michelle. I know how hard it can be to go about your everyday life when you’re not feeling well. I hope that her side effects get better soon. Thank you for your prayers…..they mean so much us.

  12. Katie Burns

    Hi Ali & Mike–

I’ve been following this beautiful blog and thinking of you both very often–congratulations on your absolutely perfect little boy. I have some news myself–I’m getting married in October! Since you asked for prayer requests, I was wondering if you would please keep my fiance (Khaled) and me in your prayers as we prepare to make this big, beautiful commitment. I have to confess, some days the thought of marriage leaves me in awe and a little scared.

Thanks, Ali & Mike–sending lots and lots of love your way :)

    • It’s so wonderful to hear from you, Katie! Thank you for keeping up on how I’m doing….that means so much to me. Congratulations on your engagement!! That is so wonderful. I will be praying for you and Khaled as your prepare to be married. I’ve been continuously amazed by the grace needed and bestowed upon Mike and I during our three years of marriage. We’ve learned so much about each other, and it is awe-inspiring to share so much with someone else. Enjoy these next few months…they are so special.

    Dear Ali,
I love your new song and your blog.
I will be praying for you tonight and in the next few days. So many people love you and you are an inspiration to all of us.
Please pray for my friend, Betty, who will be 91 in Dec. She is getting more confused as she ages and gets scared. Please pray for her to have peace. And if you have time, my cousin, Mary Nell had her baby Sophia. She gave birth yesterday two months early due to complications in Mary’s health. They are doing good, but baby Sophia has some growing to do.
God bless you Ali, and thank you for sharing your journey with me!
    Betsy

    • Thank you so much, Betsy! And thank you so much for your prayers. I know they were heard.

I prayed for Betty, and will continue to pray for her, as well as your cousin and her baby. I hope that Sophia is getting stronger everyday. Thank you for all of your love and support.
